American Unit in Swedish Army

Postby 348 White » August 27th, 2016, 10:02 am

Decades ago I came across a small article concerning a small unit of American volunteers formed in Sweden.

I seem to recollect it was a token force, but had a flag.

Does anyone have any more information?

No idea but I'm very curious. Best of luck with your search.

Sweden had a token garrison unit (and a milita unit) on Saint-Barhélemy in the Caribbean.

Could that be the one?

I can probably find some more info on this unit if you give me some time. (Yes, I'm swedish).

Edit: According to a Swedish web-site who might not be entierly trustworthy, the garrison consisted of one major, two nco:s and 50 men. In 1785.

Interesting unit you mention, but not the one I was interested in researching. I recollect the unit was formed in Sweden (probably Stockholm) during the time of Bernadotte's Regency.

So that would have been 1813-1818 then. Never heard of it.

Could it have been a part of Le Royal Suédois, a foreign regiment raised by Bernadotte in the autumn of 1813, disbanded december 1814?
