New recruits need to be able to ride to a reasonable level, e.g. get by in the three basic gaits, but do not need their own mount. We'll be participating in the Feuquières Campaign in late August and will then be conducting monthly winter training in preparation for Borodino next year (yes, a small detachment of XVLD were actually there in 1812), as well as for the usual gigs in UK.
- Apart from the fact that one forbear ran way to join Elliot's Light Horse in 1769 only to be packed off home again almost immediately (he nonetheless ended up on Sir William Erskine's staff in America), I have just learned that another forbear was CO in the late 1790s.
However, I am currently interested in the regiment's light dragoon phase, specifically the Low Countries campaign 1793-95 and certain distinctions and honours said to have derived from then.
Do you know if your OC's interest extends back before the hussar designation?
