It used to be the whole horse and musket period battles and tactics due to my writing a set of wargame rules based on the WRG rules.

But now it is mainly the Waterloo campaign, especially with all the new books that have come out since my 2000. I have a few facets of the campaign that I have always been interested in and may try to write some articles on them.

Digby; I would encourage you to write those articles. That is how my own fascination for the period took me from one phase of my interest to the next. In no time you will be writing books!!

What many people think:
Minutiae of Austrian uniforms
Marengo

Actually:
Austrian political and grand strategy
Archduke Charles (one day, I will at least do a PhD on him)
Intelligence
The big changing forces running through the period, especially political, staffwork and tactical
Funny things you find in dark corners, like unusual flags, bits of kit, personalities and their stories etc.
Trying to keep my half-decent command of German up to speed.

Anything about the Swedish army and it's campaigns
Most things about tactics
Bashing Boney (I must read Blundering to Glory ...)

Don't bother Skarpskytten, its really not that good; just a rather poor overview of all his campaigns.

Agree. The author is not a military historian, but is excellent for the period for political history.
