Napoleonic Wars Forum

The Napoleonic Wars 1792-1815

I've signed up to the Napoleon Series.

For anything else of relevance to the Napoleonic Wars but not covered by the topics above.

I agree it's use is a bit awkward and it's look old-fashioned.

But the answers you get are worth their weight in gold. ;)

Welcome, Josh.

Yes, some forums can get very nasty, with personal attacks etc.
Their moderators should police and enforce good manners.

This forum does seem to consist of well mannered, friendly helpful members.

I have not seen the Napoleon Series Forum, but their website has a very minimalist layout and seems unlike all other website layouts.

When I do find an article there, it is more by accident.

Agreed, it's a moderator issue. No wishing to blow smoke anywhere, but the team here are excellent.

Burnham is a clown - we had an exchange about the use of modern examples to explain complex Napoleonic issues (eg: Archduke Charles was a Ronald Reagan type character in his delegation of much of the donkey work) and it finished up in a warning from him that if I did it again, he would ban me. Someone mentioned a book by a British staff officer comparing coalition management in 1813 and the First Gulf War - i noted that clearly the author agreed with me on multi-period comparisons and Burnham banned me!

As a long time user of forums, I think that any discussion is valid, as long as it does not involve personal attacks and insults on other members.
Or mindless drivel ie whats the weather like in your area now?
Or games such as follow this word with another.

I have been thinking about staring my own forum (not on Napoleonics) as I also got banned from one here in NZ.

Some of them can be really petty - i was banned from Armchair General a long time ago (it is a US Weider-following site) just because one Moderator did not like me upsetting his beloved French mythology. I looked at it the other day and there is a question from a Swiss chap about material on the Austrian Hussars. 544 vioews and not one has mentioned my Osprey on the subject!
