Apparently today is the 203rd anniversary of the surrender of a British fleet to the French following the Battle of Grand Port. To my shame my naval history is still somewhat weaker than I would like (I am working on it) but I thought I'd share this in case other members were also unaware. Here is a link to an article on Wikipedia concerning the Battle of Grand Port: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Grand_Port

An ill advised and inauspicious attempt by all accounts. Patrick O'Brian includes a memorable account of it in the Aubrey Maturin book "The Mauritous Command", it's fiction but it's darn good.
