1805 Canadian Petition to Napoleon

In 1805 some French Canadians tried to deliver a petition to Napoleon, asking for his help in throwing off British rule and returning Canada to France (they had earlier tried to gain the support of the French consul in New York). I've written about the episode here:

It's doubtful the petition ever reached Napoleon, though it did reach the French Foreign Ministry, where it resides in the archives.
