Let us hope the reenactments do not follow the British lead of the Trafalgar bicentenary of red and blue fleets, so as not to cause offence. :D

The fine people of Albuera have no such problem each May 16th as they remember the battle there in 1811. Re-enactors from a variety of countries join the Spanish townspeople who are born into a Spanish, British, Portuguese, French, KGL or Polish family that makes its own uniforms, knows their history and enjoys playing their role each year.

To be honest I sometimes wonder if we Brits have got into the habit of just assuming that other countries would be offended rather than actually asking them first!

A few years back i do recall someone suggesting changing the name of Waterloo station for this very reason of not giving offence, my argument at the time was that Gare d'Austerlitz better change its name as well.
