The Battle of the Longwoods

Postby Waggoner » March 16th, 2017, 8:23 pm

Two events were held on March 5th. One commemorated the Battle of the Longwoods that was a skirmish between American marauders and British troops from the detachment stationed in Delaware, Upper Canada. The second was the dedication of Veterans of the War of 1812 plaques for the Ward family. This took place at the cemetery in Wardsville, Ontario.

A bit more about the battle -

All the best,

I wouldn't doubt there were a few hundred battles, skirmishes and more in Upper Canada during the War of 1812. Longwoods was one of the lesser known ones, and glad it is being remembered.
