G'day to all

Postby bri76 » January 26th, 2018, 11:51 pm

I am a 57 year old from Australia and I have had quite an interest in conflicts throughout the centuries but I have found in more recent times that I have had ancestors who have been involved first hand with some of the battles in and around the Napoleonic era through to the 2nd world war.
I first uncovered this due to my thirst for knowledge of my predecessors and family history, beginning with my father who never said very much at all regarding his time in the Australian army in the 2nd war. Sadly he passed away at 49. So when I slowly started to get all of these people's histories together, I was amazed to see how many had been in so many different conflicts. So the quest goes on and I am learning not only about my forefathers but everything that involved to the lead up to these conflicts. So fascinating is the worlds history.
I am looking forward to reading through the stories within this forum and hopefully I will be able to bring some things to it as well.

Hello Bri,

Well you are certainly in the right place to learn - there is a wealth of knowledge here and people happy to share it.

Don’t hesitate to shout if you need advice help etc.

As a collector of Waterloo and Napoleonic medals, I usually have my nose in some Napoleonic records or other and always happy to have a look for someone else.

Hello Bri

Welcome to the forum. You will get a lot of info from some of the more learned members of this forum. I also have family members involved in the various wars like you and some in the Napoleonic wars. Have you tried the other forums such as the victorian wars forum http://www.victorianwars.com the Great War forum http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/ and WW2 Talk http://ww2talk.com/index.php which may help you out researching family members and information on their military activity.
