Janette, the 71st were at Waterloo and lost just over 200 men of all ranks killed and wounded. Here is a link to a 19th century history of the regiment:

https://archive.org/stream/historicalre ... 3/mode/2up

You will find quite a few threads on the 71st on this forum, it being an interesting regiment for a number of reasons. Type '71st' or 'Highland Light Infantry' into the search box and most will come up. it will include discussion of uniforms. If you type the same search terms into google, and click 'images' you will find many representations of the 71st during the Napoleonic period.

Janette,

Pleased that you are enjoying the Historical Record. Just bear in mind that Regimental histories are not always the Gospel truth.

Here is a first-hand account of campaigning with the 71st Highland Light Infantry you might enjoy-

Journal of a soldier of the 71st, or Glasgow regiment : Highland Light Infantry, from 1806 to 1815 by John Howell, (1819)
