new recruit from Australia

Postby Blundstones64 » April 29th, 2017, 12:20 am

Hi folks!

My name is Grant, 53yo from Hastings Victoria.

I'm having a poke around, looking at reenacting, trying to find out who does what in my area.

The draw card is that my wife is really keen on Regency and Colonial costuming, I much prefer the smoke and noise of black powder.

Having said that, I've set out to purchase a uniform and looking for some resources for badges and medals and that kind of thing.

Lots to see and do I feel.

Kind regards
Grant

Hey Steve, just across the bay lol.

Am I right in reading you collect Victorian Era campaign medals?

Perhaps I can quiz you on what The Iron Duke may have worn?

Cheers

Hi Grant, Napoleonic re-enacting in Victoria comprises mainly the following groups:

95th Rifles (Australia) inc . Most of its membership is based in Victoria.
42nd Royal Highland Regiment. An interstate group with probably most members of its in Victoria.
Nelsons' Navy, Victoria based.
21 Regiment De Ligne (French)
We sometimes see some mounted 15th Light Dragoons & a some royal artillery.

There is a Napoleonic event being held near Glenrowan, on the North Eastern Muzzle Loaders range property on 20th & 21st May. It will have period camping, drill, maneuvers & even volley firing with live ammunition. Attendance will not be high this year as some interstate clubs cannot make it, but it is a good place to go to suss out re-enacting in Victoria. Its not a public event, just us getting together to have some fun & enjoy each others company, interested folk are welcome to visit & possibly to participate in some of it. If interested email me on adrian(at)stonehenge.com.au for full info, mud map, invitation, etc.

Regards
Adrian
