Earliest Battle of Waterloo images

Postby FBC-Elvas, Portugal » November 18th, 2015, 5:29 pm

The earliest Battle of Waterloo images have been secured for the nation by the British Museum. The paintings, which were created just days after the Battle of Waterloo and show bodies fresh on the ground, went on display at the museum earlier this year. The first time they had been seen by the public. “The chance to add the Stoney Waterloo Album to the Museum’s collection in the 200th anniversary year of the battle was one that we did not want to pass up" said Neil MacGregor, director of the British Museum.

Good to see them in the hands of the British Museum. I guess they are quite graphic for the time.
